Love At First Sight

Got myself a new dress watch on sunday. It was love at first sight when I bought it. The watch is from Solvil et Titus and I like the rose gold case with a mother-of-pearl central section surrounded by three concentric circles of swarovski crystal. The tapering hour and minute hands match the case, which is set on a genuine leather band of the purest form.

Ayam Penyet @ Lucky Plaza

We (Clarrise, Soon Teck and Me) have Ayam Penyet for lunch yesterday. Ayam Penyet aka smashed fried chicken is actually fried chicken serve with white rice, tempae (crispy fried bits on the chicken), boiled kang kong, cabbage, beancurd and their super hot sambal (if you can't take hot, don't try!!!). Overall the fried chicken is a bit dry but best if they can serve with soup.

Clarisse thank you for the lunch.

Bye Bye Xiaomei

2 Months have passed

Molly, this is for you...

We remember you
Even when the world forgets

We remember your smile
Even when we can't find anything to smile about

We remember your laughter
Even when nothing is funny

We remember your tears
Even when we tried to comfort your pain

We remember your smell
Even if we never smell it again

We remember how you felt
Even if we can't hold you

We remember you
Even when it hurts the most

One day we will see you again

Southern Ridges

Yesterday after visiting Molly, my mum, my hubby, Aunty Jean, Uncle Si Kang, Yee Hwee and me went to explore the Southern Ridges. We parked our car and began our walk at Hort Park - the gardening hub. It is located at the base of the bridge at Alexandra Arch; Floral Walk offers a delightful stroll along a path lined with flowering plants.

Natural umbrella! It was huge!

Henderson Waves is located 36 metres above Henderson Road, it is the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore. It was built to connect the two hills of Mount Faber and Telok Blangah Hill.

The bridge has a unique wave-form made up of seven undulating curved steel "ribs" that alternately rise over and under the deck. The cured "ribs" form alcoves that functions as shelters with seats within.

The wave-forms will be lit with attractive LED light from 7pm to 2am daily, giving the bridge an illuminative glow.

These photos was taken at the forest walk. It was a steps-free elevated walkway with earth trails meanders through some 50 metres through the secondary forest of Telok Blangah Hill and connects to Alexandra Arch. The raised walkway with the heights ranging from 3 to 18 metres brushes the canopy trees and offers a bird's eye of the forest.

On our way back to our car, instead of taking the same route we explored the jungle walk. It was so much fun and interesting than the normal route.

We did not finish the 9km walk this time but we will be back again to finish the rest of the trails.

I personally like this work call 'Seeking Shangri-La' by local designer Peter Cheok. It gives you the feeling that you are underwater; the flowers and plants were transformed into sea corals. The display won the Best Show and a Gold medal award in the Fantasy Garden category.

Farewell Lunch For Clarisse

(Standing: Clarisse & Me, Sitted: Zainal & Soon Teck)

My colleague Clarisse will be leaving the company next week. I have been thinking where to buy her a farewell lunch and what gift to get for her. Yesterday Zainal initiated to have a farewell lunch and we decided to have it at Pasta Cafe. The restaurant gives me a casual and homely feeling; and most importantly their food is nice.

The last 2 SMS

When Molly was still around, calling and smsed her was my daily routine. I would call to see how she is, what she wants to eat etc... I really missed all these.

Two months ago on 22 May 12:01pm, she smsed me and it was the lasted 2 smsed I received from her. In the sms she said " Jie, I feel like eating honeydew. Can u buy me honeydew"; after which she sent me the very lasted smsed at 7:25pm saying "Raining. So happy".

Till now I still keep all the her sms; going through it one by one makes me think of her and also having the feeling that she is still with us.

Car Free Day

My hubby had never been to T3 (Terminal 3) before, so today we decided to leave our car behind and head down there for our brunch. It is very convenience with a direct bus from our place to the airport; feels just like our "pak tor (dating)" days. Both of us enjoyed the bus ride, my hubby feels relax, no stress (over the petrol & parking fees), enjoying the scenery (like a tourist) and we actually slept throughout our journey back home.

My face was feeling a bit stiff so got to force myself to smile in front of the camera. Acting cute as usual...and I nearly bought the extra large bottle tobasco sauce that could last me for at least the next 5 years!

Another Fine Saturday

We (my mum, my hubby, Josef and me) visited Molly today. To my surprised, the flowers that we bought for Molly last week still look fresh. I always buy different types of flower for Molly and today I bought some orange Gebera; to me it is a happy flower.

After visiting Molly, we headed to Compass Point for our lunch at "Soup Restaurant", it was my mum treat today. Here are the dishes that what we have ordered.

a. Samsui Ginger Chicken $14.80 (small serving)
This is their Signature dish. The ginger sauce is a fragrant and tasty compliment to the chicken. Ginger and sesame oil, as believed by the Chinese, removes excess wind from the body. You may wrap the chicken in lettuce to achieve that crunch when you bite into the popular Samsui Ginger Chicken.

b. Corn with Pork Ribs Soup $11.80 (medium serving)
Their soup of the day pork ribs and sweet corn was very tasty, must have been boiled for hours.

c. Hometown Fried Fish Belly $12.80
This is their new dish they fried the fish belly and is quite tasty.

d. Ah Kon Fan Shu Leaves $8.00 (small serving)
The Fan Shu Leaves was good, my mum loves the Fan Shu Leaves, which explains why we dine there regularly.

e. Beggar Bowl Tofu $7.50 (small serving)
I quite enjoyed the beggar bowl tofu, which was a simple braised tofu claypot with some chives or spring onion.

f. Peanuts $2.00
Peanuts were served as appetizers and tasted decent.

The Blood Group Diet

Blood Group A should basically stick to fruits and vegetables (high carbs / low fat). They have thicker blood than other blood types, a sensitive immune system, and should not consume dairy products, animal fats and meats. They are at a heightened risk for cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer.

Blood Group B should consume a balanced diet (fruit and vegetables, grains, fish, dairy, meat, but avoid chicken). They have the best chance of bypassing or overcoming everyday types of diseases, including heart disease and cancer.

Blood Group AB should consume a mostly vegetarian diet, only on rare occasions some fish, meat (no chicken), and dairy.

Blood Group O should basically stick to a high protein diet (including red meat), low carbs, and enriched with fruits and vegetables. They should limit the intake of wheat germ, whole wheat products, corn and avoid dairy products and most nuts. Blood Group O are commonly affected with hypothyroidism, high stomach acid (leading to ulcers), and thinner blood with greater resistance to blood clotting.

I Missed Her...

Actually Mao is still not living strong, enough.

This couple of days I have been feeling quite down. People around me may see me as happy person but I am not; I am just deceiving myself and people around me. I cannot settle down my thoughts and keep pondering over many things. I never had any good sleep even since Molly was diagnosed with cancer.

I wished that she is still around. I missed her calling me "Jie"; missed talking and sharing things with her; missed going shopping and 'makan' with her; missed gossiping with her; missed her SMS; missed sitting with her at the sofa watching her favorite TV programme; missed visiting her after work; missed doing lots of things with her. I missed her dearly.

I was hoping....
At night, after switching off the lights, I will imagine Molly standing at the corner of the room; thinking that she might be taking a day off from heaven to visit my mum and me. Every time when my hubby drive passed her house I will definitely looked up to see whether her window is open; whether the lights are turned on.

"We fought, we patched up. We laughed at jokes that no one can understand. We said some of the meanest things to each other. We defended each other when others won't. We did some of the silliest things together and there's so many stories to be recalled when we are together".
Do you have a sister? If you have, you'll know what I mean.

I probably need sometime to get over this but I promise Molly that "Jie will stay strong, continue with my life and wait for the day to see you again".

"Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of. you know whatever you do, they'll still be there".
